Etay Nir currently holds the title of Sr. Principal Researcher at Palo Alto Networks. His team investigates new threats and builds security playbooks to arm the next generation of blue and red teams. Before this, Etay Nir acted as the Palo Alto Networks Worldwide Threat Intelligence and community outreach Consulting Engineer and had done work together with Palo Alto Networks threat intelligence teams.
Before Palo Alto Networks, Etay Nir spent 9 years at Sourcefire. From the early days, as an early contributor, and acted as the technology manager. He was also one of the core developers of Slackware Linux Distribution, and a former Linux kernel contributor.
Earlier, he was with Finjan, inventor of the first sandbox technology and Etay was their chief technologist at the office of the CTO. Etay Nir also founded and led the Finjan Malicious Code Research Centre (MCRC.)
